Mosport, Canada Race Summary

( Aug. 23, 08)    Mosport, Ontario, CA - John would secure pole Saturday morning but knew it could be a tight battle going into the race.

"It was a really good session. It was especially good to see that we were good on cold tires. We were P1 the whole time. The other guys closed in a little bit and kind of scared me a little bit. It's only 800th's that I the pole by, so that was a little closer than I wanted it to be."

Edwards moves up to second in championship after back-to-back podiums

( Aug. 17, 08)    Trois-Rivieres, Quebec, CA - John Edwards once again made big gains in his championship hunt, first in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, and a week later in Trois-Rivieres, Quebec. At both venues, John finished second and ahead of his championship rivals.

After his back-to-back podiums, John is now second and only 10 points away from championship leader Charles Hall despite missing the first Star Mazda event in Sebring. John reflected, “After coming off a win in Portland, it’s tough to not cross the line in first again, but the important thing is that we were ahead of the guys we need to beat in the championship. Now we’re only ten points behind (Charles) Hall and we still have five races to go. Anything can happen.”

The Star Mazda series now heads to Mosport, just outside of Toronto, Canada for Round 7 of the championship.   (...read more)

Edwards takes the win in Portland

( Jul. 27, 08)    Portland, OR - John Edwards forgot all about yesterday and once again put the car on the front row in qualifying. He would then get a great start and pass the pole sitter into the first corner and go on to lead every lap of this afternoon's feature.

John was able to build a strong lead - as much as six seconds over the 05 car which had been on pole. John commented, "The 05 had a slow start and was passed for second and then held up. I was able to take my time through traffic and build a bit of a lead."

The 05 finally regained second place and started a charge just when John started to catch traffic at all the wrong places. As the laps were winding down, John was able to focus forward and maintain the lead through to the checkers. He would cross the line .979 seconds up on P2.

Tough weekend at The Glen, Edwards salvages P6 and moves up in points.

( Jun. 09, 08)    Woodbridge, Ontario, CA - The gremlins were out at Watkins Glen the past week and they seemed to be zeroed in on the AIM Autosport No. 7 as a number of glitches plagued the team throughout the weekend. In the end, driver John Edwards brought the car home P6 and has picked up two spots in the championship. With 75 points, he is eighth overall.

The team was on hand Wednesday for testing and showed very well with John finishing the session P2 and P3 on the day. On Thursday morning they were off the pace however and found an electrical problem that had the team frantically working into the night to rectify. They were feeling confident that with two 45-minute sessions on Friday ahead of qualifying, they could get enough track time to work out any bugs and be on pace. That was until the end of the first session Friday morning.
